About RewindTime

This site started from the same place most good nostalgia does — a few old friends, a few drinks, and someone saying "do you remember when we used to..." The rest of the evening disappears into it: the Furby that freaked everyone out, the exact sound of a dial-up connection, whatever was on the TV Guide that one Friday night nobody could agree on. Everyone's got a version of that conversation, and it's always better than it has any right to be.

RewindTime is an attempt to bottle a bit of that — the music, the movies, the gadgets, and the everyday rituals of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, written up properly instead of half-remembered over drinks.

Before streaming, before smartphones, before everything was instant and on-demand, life had a different rhythm. You planned your week around a TV Guide. You rewound your tapes. You drove to the video store on a Friday night with no idea what you were going to watch. You memorised phone numbers.

We think those things are worth remembering.
